IT Operations (ITOps)

What is IT Operations?

IT operations (ITOps) is the general terms for processes, procedures, and services managed by an organization’s IT department. This includes tech management, incident management, facilities management, quality assurance, and more, all to support internal and external clients. IT operations management (ITOM) deals with ITOps administrative and infrastructural processes and support.

Why Does it Matter?

Every organization that uses IT has IT operations to some degree, even if they’re not clearly defined. ITOps is especially necessary in the era of digital transformation in order to improve productivity and profitability. Well-defined ITOps can also provide infrastructural visibility, reduce IT complexity, and help minimize risks.
