Getting ready for ConnectWise 2016.4

Published on: | Updated on:

The ConnectWise Codebase 2016.4 Beta is out, and in accordance, we are looking into how this upcoming release will affect our users.

We found some key issues with the way DeskDirector works with the new version of ConnectWise. Mainly how it handles passwords. Some of you may have heard of the fixes we rolled out for the last ConnectWise update related to passwords. This time, a small fix won't be enough.

In order to work with ConnectWise's new way of handling security, we have made some changes too. Some of you will be pleased to know that your contacts will finally be able to change your log in password within DeskDirector. No need to go into ConnectWise's customer portal.

The downside of this update, is that in order for DeskDirector to run with ConnectWise 2016.4, you have to be on the latest version of the DeskDirector server (Admin Console). This is version 16. You can see your version on the top left when you log into the Admin Console. As mentioned in a previous blog post,  updating to version 16 brings increased security and customization on the amount of access your contacts have in their DeskDirector Portal.

Over the upcoming days, we will be updating all users to this latest version of DeskDirector Server. If you are on version 16, you won't notice any difference aside from the new password function. If you are on version 15 however, you might hear from us. If you have any legacy clients, we will send you an email letting you know that you will lose support for some clients.

17.06.2016 - IMPORTANT UPDATE: We have also found that if you have not migrated your ConnectWise Portal Types to DeskDirector Request Types, you will still run into issues with the new ConnectWise update. We will be also contacting all those who haven't migrated in order to get this issue fixed.

Read more on how to migrate here.

Hope that this update pleases everyone, and if there are any questions please feel free to contact us at support@deskdirector.com
