In this One Minute Wednesday we explore Slack, an awesome team collaboration tool that has allowed us to keep all of our team up to date.
We've been using Slack for a while at DeskDirector and also our sister IT Service company has quickly adopted it as well.
Thanks to Slack now all of our staff can easily share client and internal updates and feel involved. When clients contact us it's easy for team members to be aware of any updates that affect them.
You can also push updates from countless external services like PagerDuty, Twitter, Zapier and RSS Feeds.
Oh, and did we mention you can get started for free! and based on your needs it may never cost you a cent!
Give it a try, it's really helped us.
Hi everyone and welcome to another one-minute Wednesday. Today we’re going to take you through one of our favorite tools that we use so much at DeskDirector and even in our EMSP, and that’s called Slack. As your company goes, it’s really hard to keep all the team members aware of what’s going on in the various departments. Slack makes it really easy to do this and share information a little bit like Twitter. Let’s have a look.
So welcome to DeskDirector. Over on the left-hand side, we see the channels. Channels are a way to logically group conversations. So we’ve got things like Accounts, Development, Marketing, Signups and updates. In each channel, there’s an easily searchable stream where all the members can subscribe to the channel, see what’s going on, and even join in on the conversation.
You can also push updates into the stream using integrations. So the likes of PagerDuty, which we’ve spoken about before, Twitter, and many, many, many other things can push easily into the stream to keep the team up to date. It’s also very easy under direct messages to have a private conversation with individual members, and there’s also a mobile app that’s super-easy to use and keep you up to date while you are on the go.
We have recommended and selected many companies and it’s made a big difference to them. Give it a try who knows what might happen. Let us know how you get on as well. Make sure you have an awesome week, and we’ll see you next time. Bye for now.
